In case you didn’t hear about it, last year’s Public Theater’s renowned Shakespeare in the Park festival was marred by social justice nonsense, as Julius Caeser was reduced to assassination porn for the social justice crowd. In a weird sort of way, it was the left delivering a wholely unearned compliment to the then newly elected president. Julius Caesar, whatever else you think of him, was a great general and statesman. Is this really how the woke theater producers want us to think of Donald Trump?
But none of that mattered. All that mattered was that eight times a week in Central Park, the politically correct latte liberals got to wallow in the fantasy of murdering “not my president.” Somehow, the delusion in all of this was that Trump was being murderer by the will of the people. Of course, minor historical detail, Brutus and his crew were not elected representatives of the people. Indeed, they murdered Caeser very much to protect their own self interest. It was in fact Caeser who had the support and adulation of the Roman commoners.
But hey that tells you all you need to know about these aspiring authoritarians. They may give lip service to the constitution, when it serves their purpose, but when their comfortable hegemony is upset, the blood curdling outrage takes on murderous proportions.
