The premise here is a pretty simple one. A century after Earth was devastated by a nuclear apocalypse, 100 space station residents are sent to the planet to determine whether it’s habitable. The catch is the 100 sent back are all kids under the age of 18 and those that have been found guilty of breaking the rules on the space station. This is a good thing as usually if you break a rule you are “floated” meaning you sent into space without a space suit and you obviously die. That’s the way it is, there are limited resources and that’s how things are handled. I can live with that, no issues.
What drives me crazy is that virtually every women in the shoe is sane, over the top smart and amazing fighters and it seems virtually without fault. The vast majority of men are wimping and sneaky and amazingly they are pretty pathetic over all. That really doesn’t make any sense. Sure no doubt some women will be better than some men, the law of averages proves that. BUT, even if you believe the creator’s premise that the reason for this is that they only picked the best of the best to be on the ship. But wouldn’t that mean that they also took only the best of the best of the men too? You see what I mean?
But what really broke the camels back for me is that every single “tribe” that survived the incident on earth is run by a female. How in the world are we expected to believe that ALL these warrior tribes are run by women? You want us to believe that NOT one single man looked at these women and went yeah I don’t think so, I can crush you with one hand. To see this little women surrounded by all these hulking men and yet somehow they never take over the tribe just defies all belief.
As long as you can look past this condecending aspect of the series you might actually enjoy it. I tried and managed to get through a couple of seasons before I finally just said enough is enough, who knows maybe they joined reality in the newer seasons, but I didn’t have the patience.
Let me know your thoughts or if you’ve watched past the 3 season feel free to update me on if it got any better.
I’ve seen the show you’re right on. I could never figure out how time and time again it’s always the women in charge. I didn’t even make it through two seasons.
Horizon zero dawn and SHADOW of tomb raider (Ps4 games ) are also a feminist wet dream. And yes, i couldn’t finish Both games because i was too embarassed to keep playing.
Hey Ozy, you should create a post about those and other games like them in the Video Games section on the site…. people don’t always see comments, but posts show up on the main page.
