Goodness anyone that didn’t see this coming a mile away must be totally asleep at the wheel.
Maybe the subpar box office performance for “The Marvels,” to echo Thanos’ high opinion of himself, was inevitable. It is a sequel to a movie that came out not just in the previous decade, but in an altogether different era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
They just keep churning out these movies, and shows and whatever else not realizing that most people are over it, it’s a never ending commercial and the stories just aren’t as engaging as they once seemed to be. They really weren’t then either but it was new and people took a while to figure out that every darn movie was pretty much exactly the same.
This is a very solid case of “go woke, go broke,” no doubt that a large part in the super low returns is as a result of casting three women, two of them women of color, as leads in a male-skewing genre. Men much prefer to go to the comic book type movies and most them have no interest in sitting around watching three women running all over the screen. It really doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
So why didn’t Marvel?
Anyway just thought I’d throw my two cents worth into the mix…
