Let’s start with the headlline anomoly….Something that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected.
I am so tired of all the nutty TRA’s claiming that because Intersex people exist (and they do) that it somehow proves that sex isn’t binary.
The argument is dumb and easily explained away, but it doesn’t stop them from wanting to throw it out like some gotcha. All it does is prove they are either totally dishonest, or they don’t know the defintion (stated above) of the word “anomaly”
Let’s assume you own a Table factory, you produce tables that are 60″ in width, 90″ in length, they have 90 degree squared corners, and 4 legs, one at each corner that is 36″ inches in length.
Every day you churn out tables, thousands of them. Yet every 1500 – 2000 tables something screws up. One of the corners is not exactly 90 degrees, or one of the legs gets cut at 34″ instead of 36″
Those are anomalies, and they are discarded. They are not saved and consided a NEW model of table. Obviously we don’t discard Intersex people but you get the point.
What is being intersex? Intersex people are born with “any of several variations in sex characteristics including chromosomes, gonads, sex hormones, or genitals” according to the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, “they do not fit the typical definitions for male or female bodies”
In other words there is not ONE intersex variation. You could line up 10 intersex people and no two of them might have the same anomaly.
If you ask experts at medical centers how often a child is born so noticeably atypical in terms of genitalia that a specialist in sex differentiation is called in, the number comes out to about 1 in 1500 to 1 in 2000 births
Intersex does not disprove that for practical purposes sex is binary. Ask any intersex person if they want to be referred to as intersex and be their own sex class, or if they just want to fit into one of the agreed upon classes and live their lives.
Creepy TRA people, leave the intersex folks out of your delusion they aren’t interested in playing…
