I had never even heard of Designated Survivor, I just happened upon it one day while browsing Netflix. It looked interesting and having Kiefer Sutherland as it’s main star meant I was going to give it a chance. Who doesn’t love 24 Hours?
It started off quite good, lots of deep state stuff plenty of action, a plot that was complicated enough that you couldn’t guess everything before it happened, thereby keeping viewers interested.
I noticed a few minor SJW talking points here and there, but not enough to make me stop watching. Then it seemed about the mid way point or so of the first season they started going full SJW. Plane loads of Immigrants that shouldn’t be turned away.. and classic lines like “Men don’t own sports” Look we all know some women are interested in sports, we also know that the average guy knows WAY more about sports than the average woman. So I could over look that. But when FLOTUS gives a speech and starts rambling about equality and utters the words “don’t get me started on the gender wage gap” and I knew it was jumping the shark before my very eyes.
My personal pet peeve, for the entire season to that point they are building up this terrorist a former Navy seal as this huge tough guy bad ass. So what takes him out, this big strapping white Navy seal? A 90 lb soaking wet Asian girl, kicks his ass and basically throws him around like a rag doll, until he gets dropped on some spikes and is killed.
Why do these shows keep wanting to pretend that even the toughest woman out there would stand a chance in a fist fight with a trained Navy seal? It’s just so pathetically unbelievable.
But the final straw for me was when POTUS said to his staff, “wouldn’t you like to see a female VP?” Ummmm, maybe if she is the most qualified? Why does her sex have anything to do with it? Why bring that into it, shouldn’t the best person for the job, get the job?
I quit at that point and won’t go back for season two, such a shame…
