Took my young daughter to see Wrinkle in Time. Crazy. What a mess that thing is. If you had in mind seeing a movie of a favourite book of your child hood forget about this one.
Yes, of course, they changed the race of key characters. Whatever. I don’t really see why they have to use my beloved childhood story as the vehicle for advocating for girls of color. I’ve read that that was the director’s goal. Are the people doing these things so incapable of coming up with original stories that would provide self impowering roles for girls of color?
That though bothered me far less than the complete evisceration from the story of the Christian themes whcih had been central to it. God’s love, which is what sustained Meg in her mission in the book has been twisted into the shallow, narcissm of personal self love. This is typical progressive, secular nonsense. Hollywood is one continual war on Christian virtues.
They really ruined the adaptation of a great book. I guess the good thing is that still leaves room for someone else to do it. And do it right.
